Medical Tourism India
A medical tourist in India can get the best of both worlds- excellent medical service from experts in the field of medicine and a splendid experience of an exotic holiday in India. India is high up there in the list of popular medical tourism destinations. It has become an obvious choice for patients who look at safe and cost-effective medical treatments.
Safe medical treatment:
Safety is one of the key concerns when it comes to health. The medical staff in India is highly qualified and many doctors have been educated in the US, UK or some reputed university abroad. The hospitals are well equipped with the latest technology that provides timely and accurate information on the required diagnosis. India also has a strong backing of pharmaceuticals as well. It also houses several “corporate hospitals” which offer world class medical services and look into every aspect of your stay in India. They offer a variety of treatments such as Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Orthopedic Surgery, Joint Replacements, and neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, ENT, Pediatric Surgery, Rheumatology, Urology, Dental Surgery, Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, General Medicine and General Surgery.
Reduce burden on the pocket:
A bone-marrow transplant which would cost you around $250,000 in the US and £150,000 in UK will cost you a mere $26,000 in India. A patient can successfully get a gastric bypass surgery in India by paying just $9,500 as against a $65,000 price tag for the same in the US. It is also a good idea to avail a medical tourism package which would include airfare, accommodation charges and a visit to some of the holiday destinations in the country.
Visa:
Foreigners who seek entry into India with a medical visa are required to register themselves well within a period of 14 days before arrival. The initial period for a medical visa may be up to a period of one year or the period of treatment whichever less, which can be extended for a further period up to one year be the State Government/ FRROs on the production of medical certificate/ advice from the reputed/ recognized/ specialized hospitals in the country. Any further extension will be granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs only on the recommendations of the State Government/ FRROs supported by appropriate Medical documents. Such visa will be valid for maximum three entries during one year.
Rejuvenation options:
Rehabilitation is an important aspect of any surgical procedure and with yoga; ayurveda, Therapeutic Massage and other spa treatments, you are sure to find yourself in the zenith of health when you go back home. In addition to this a tour to some of the splendid holiday destinations in the country, is sure to give you a much needed break from the monotony of life, all of which would combine to aid in speedy recovery.
Additional benefits:
Medical tourism to India is also seen as a good option for elective surgery and for those who are either uninsured or underinsured. There are hardly any waiting lists that will otherwise prolong the treatment for a long time. Most people and all doctors in India have a sound knowledge of English language. All this, increases the comfort level the patient who is opting for a medical treatment in India. In addition, India is also moving into a new area of Medical Outsourcing where subcontractors provide services to overburdened medical care systems in western countries.
